    Political Standing

I recently started a a new job.  For me, the economy has not been a problem.  I make more money now than I ever have.  Oddly enough, I am an ultra-conservative, registered Republican.  I say oddly because I live here in Connecticut an ultra-liberal state that just came along side California and our neighbor, Mass, in making same-sex marriage legal.  I am often asked what I think.  Why,  I wonder?  I am not as pushy as some with my perspective and I think that makes me approachable.  Yes, I have a completely different world view than most people around here. The fact is beating someone over the head with a bible never gained the respect of anyone, but a good dose of humility certainly makes friends.  I offer my convictions when asked and on occassion volunteer the information.  Even more infrenquently, I am quite direct.

Now is a time when I am going to be direct.  Having been married I find it quite offensive that homosexuals are now equal to straight marrieds in this state.  Using the bible as my absolute, this mandate from judges legislating from the bench is an outright abomination.  Yes, I know the state that I live in, but I still have freedom of speech.

Now that I have thoroughly stirred up the hornets nest :)

    I bid you all well!

Using the bible as your "absolute"

Gordongirls, As as devout Christian for 70 years and a clergyman for 40+ I can't understand how so-called "conservative Christians" like yourself can "use the bible as my absolute," as you say to condemn the sins as you imagine of OTHERS, while playing down your own. You do know don't you that Jesus had a serious problem with such behavior, don't you? Why aren't you " Using the bible as my absolute," when it comes to the 3rd commandment (to observe the sabbath OR DIE)? Is it that you or someone you love might be at risk (as opposed to people that you don't identify with? Homosexuality is one of a multitude of behaviors that are condemned in the bible, but the sabbath commandment is one of the BIG TEN! So why aren't "conservative Christians" like yourself insisting first of all that ALL business activities be completely shut down every seventh day, and secondly that those who don't obey be KILLED - which the bible teaches with absolute clarity? By the way. I don't identify with homosexuals because I am gay myself. I've been married to my wife for 38 years and have 10 children so far. Rev.
